Systema of Mississippi

Systema of Mississippi

The Russian Combat Art

Do not fight the force. Take it and lead it where you want.
Systema principle
Tension is the enemy. Breathe, and the body knows what to do.
Systema principle
Form is borrowed. Movement is yours.
Systema principle

The System

Four pillars, no forms to memorize

Systema has no belts, no katas, no rigid stances. It rests on four foundations the Russian soldier carried into every situation — and everything else is built from how you combine them.

  1. 01 Дыхание

    Breathing

The first weapon and the last. Breath sets the pace of the fight, clears fear, and keeps the body loose enough to act.

  2. 02 Расслабление

    Relaxation

Tension is where injuries live. A relaxed body moves faster, feels more, and gives an attacker nothing solid to work against.

  3. 03 Поза

    Posture

Structure without stiffness. Good posture lets force pass through you into the ground instead of breaking you.

  4. 04 Движение

    Movement

Continuous, unpredictable, never frozen in a stance. You take the incoming force and lead it somewhere it cannot hurt you.

Training

What the training teaches

Every class works the same principles from a different angle. You will not be drilling choreography — you will be learning to stay calm and keep moving while someone genuinely tries to take your balance.

Strikes & contact

Learn to give and receive strikes without bracing. Absorb, redirect, and answer — all while breathing.

Grappling & escapes

Wrist grabs, holds, and takedowns dissolved through relaxation and angle rather than raw strength.

Ground & wall work

Moving, rising, and using the floor and the wall as a third leg to hold your stance and defeat the threat.

Breath & fear

Drills that put you under pressure so you can feel — and control — what fear does to your body.

Weapons awareness

Gun, knife, and stick work to sharpen timing, body movement, distance, calmness under threat, and self protection.

Everyday readiness

Health, mobility, and a body that recovers well — training you can carry for the rest of your life.

Your instructor

Bo Perrin

I have spent years inside the Russian Combat Art — not collecting rank, but learning to move, breathe, and stay whole under pressure. Systema changed how I carry myself, and I teach it because I have watched it do the same for other people.

My classes in Mississippi are small and honest. Beginners are welcome. There is no uniform to buy and no ego to feed — only the work, done patiently, at whatever pace your body allows.

Train softly. The hardness comes on its own.

Honest answers

I have never trained anything. Is that a problem?

No. Systema is built to be learned from zero. There is nothing to un-learn and no baseline of fitness required to begin.

Do I need to be in shape or young?

No. The art is designed to protect the body, not punish it. People train well into their later years — the movement meets you where you are.

Is this going to hurt?

Training is real but controlled. You learn to take contact gradually, and the whole point of relaxation is to keep you healthy in training, not broken.

What do I need to bring to my first class?

Comfortable clothes you can move in and a willingness to breathe. Everything else we cover once you are in the room.
